a bad start to the day in Egypt

August 19, 2013

On a quick scan of the morning’s news, I see three items that suggest that the next few days will be very bad ones:

*24 Egyptian soldiers have reportedly been killed in an ambush by militants in the northern SInai. (Quite believable, given the increasingly Afghanistanesque state of the Sinai.)

*a newspaper headline promising the end of the Muslim Brotherhood within 48 hours (along with another group insisting that their money and assets be seized)

*a Facebook youth page urging citizens to report the names of terrorists to State Security
