An AUC colleague reports being rejected by *37* straight taxis after asking to go from Zamalek to the New Cairo area, where our new campus is located. (Taxis here are not required to take you wherever you want to go; you have to give them a destination first). Admittedly, it’s a very long ride with little chance of a return fare. But she offered to pay double and was still rejected.
