the back end of the trip
July 14, 2012
I’d planned to use this weekend to go elsewhere in Germany, but there’s simply too much to catch up on in terms of remote administrative work back in Cairo. So here I sit in Bonn– not a bad place to sit. I’ll be back in Cairo very late tomorrow night.
And I did have some nice lunch today. Most potato pancakes are, for all intents and purposes, two-dimensional. They’re tasty but flat. But there’s a place here on the square in Bonn that serves a three-dimensional, semi-spherical version, with some flecks of onion mixed in. It goes great with applesauce and a pilsener.
In the meantime, I randomly ran into two of the Summer School students, so I’m not the only one still around. Perhaps it was just so good here that no one wants to leave town.
