Stories like this are the reason that some people were willing to bite the bullet and vote for Shafik instead of the Brotherhood’s Morsi:

“New Egyptian TV channel to only feature fully face-veiled women”

For most of my time in Egypt, full face-veiling has been relatively rare. Maybe 1%, 2% of women for most of that period.

And this line is a bit disturbing (not that all the others aren’t): “Refai refused to reveal who is funding the channel.”
