conference wrap-up

June 28, 2012

First I gave a presentation of my Edinburgh book. Then the closing speaker was Prof. Vladimir Zheleznyak, Chair of the History of Philosophy at Perm State University. He seems to be an exceptional thinker and person, and everyone I spoke with loved his talk, as did I. Nice way to end this interesting three-day event.

Whether or not this was typical of Russia, I don’t know, but I’m still in awe of the attention span of these audiences– their commitment to listening to every word of some unusually long speeches.
