misleading headline in the NY Times

“Egyptian Court Deals Blow to Islamists”

True enough. But it’s not just the Islamists who were dealt a blow today. It’s anyone who cares about the right of the people to participate in choosing their own form of government.

As the day goes by, I am increasingly stunned by the news. My immediate gut reaction is that Morsi (and I’m no fan of Morsi or the Brotherhood) should in fact pull out of this election, which is shaping up to be a sham. My initial reaction is that this process should no longer be legitimated.
