Was reading one of the Chicago newspapers while passing through the airport. Something that really struck me was the full-page funeral announcement for a popular local tour guide, who died of cancer 11 days after being diagnosed. It was a form of cancer that can do that sometimes, but still.
We all know vaguely that we can be in an accident on any given day, but the thought that you or I might not make it out of the month of June due to a disease that we don’t even know we have yet is of a completely different order of chilling.
