another sign that Obama will win re-election
February 27, 2012
It’s already a very bad sign for Republicans that no one is really trying that hard to paint Obama as weak on defense. Pretty much every Democrat after Truman has been depicted as a national security wimp, and it’s quite remarkable that a black President with no military experience is now basically untouchable on defense issues (except from those situated towards the left wing of his own Party). Not sure how the Republicans are going to do without this most ingrained of their attack lines.
And now there’s this little ongoing skirmish with Rick Santorum.
“Three days after Mr. Santorum accused Mr. Obama of being a “snob” and of trying to “indoctrinate” young people by encouraging them to go to college, Mr. Obama responded…
In his comments last week, Mr. Santorum said that Mr. Obama’s efforts to get people to go to college were part of an effort to get them into “indoctrination mills” led by liberal professors.
“President Obama once said he wants everybody in America to go to college. What a snob,” Mr. Santorum said. “You’re good, decent men and women who go out and work hard every day and put their skills to tests that aren’t taught by some liberal college professor.””
First Obama was a sneaky Kenyan Muslim who wasn’t really a natural-born U.S. citizen. But now he’s a blue-blooded Harvard snob so blinded by cocktail parties at mansions that he doesn’t understand the aspirations of mass America.
If you’re the first black President (less than 50 years after Jim Crow) and during re-election season you’re being called too upper crust and too Ivy League for mainstream America, then I think you’ve positioned yourself pretty well in the past four years.
But perhaps even more importantly– who exactly is going to beat Obama from this sorry remaining Republican crop? Romney’s the only one who won’t get buried in an electoral avalanche, and I’m pretty sure that even Romney can’t win in November.
