how not to do riot control at a football match
February 4, 2012
Photo by Reuters, taken from al Ahram. As you can see, these police aren’t doing anything in particular to stop a massive onslaught of thousands of armed “fans” against Egypt’s most famous footballers and their followers.
The gentleman at left is even finding time for a digital snapshot.
This photo shows why Sandmonkey thinks that the public just isn’t going to stand for this latest incident, quite likely the single most appalling incident in Egypt since this all began.
Sunday would normally be a teaching day for us (Sunday-Thursday is the normal work week). But classes are suspended tomorrow due to the death of our student at the football match. Large mourning ceremony scheduled for campus, and I will let you know what our student’s friends say about his death.
