Robert Jackson wonders HERE if we’re in the same hotel or only the same chain. As he now knows (we had breakfast together this morning) it’s the exact same hotel.

This morning taped a nice podcast interview with Bernard Dionysius Geoghegan over at the Humboldt-Universität. It should be posted in a month or so.

Now headed over to see Christopher Salter’s installation, then a bit later to Andrew Feenberg’s McLuhan Lecture at the Canadian Embassy.

Dinner last night was delicious spätzle (noodle-shaped dumplings) from the Swabian takeout place across the street, but then I discovered a fancy Cambodian place on the other side of the hotel, so that may be tonight’s dinner site. My lecture is tomorrow evening.

It’s really cold here. My tolerance for cold has more or less evaporated during 12 years in Egypt, though I grew up in a pretty brutally cold place where the car had to be plugged in every night during the winter or the battery would be dead in the morning, and where orange juice pitchers filled with hot water were often used to melt ice off the windshields each morning. But now? I’ve become one of those anti-cold complainers.
