Weird question, and the majority response is both charming and utterly ridiculous and ignorant at the same time:

Should a captain go down with his ship?
Yes 66%
No 34%

A landslide victory for going down with the ship.

But I don’t think one needs to go to extremes. Simply remaining on board until all your passengers are off is probably sufficient.
