Avignon

That’s the plan for today. It’s almost all the way to the Mediterranean, but through the magic of high-speed rail, it’s a plausible day trip.

I’ve been trying to see Avignon since 2006, but have been thwarted on each attempt by some weird last-minute incident or other. Today finally looks all clear.

For train rides, I’ve found reading not to be the best use of time. You naturally want to look at the scenery often, which disrupts the undivided attention needed for serious reading.

So, I usually take a notepad and jot down thoughts, which is fully compatible with watching scenery, and even inspired by it.
