our old university library is on fire
November 21, 2011
We still own it, pending future redevelopment of it. But it now seems to be on fire. Not yet clear who did this. It’s in the no-man’s-land between the protestors and the Army.
This is Mohamed Mahmoud Street, the locus of the new violence. Tahrir Square is one block behind the backs of these protestors, which suggests that Tahrir is still completely under protestor control.
The area behind the burning building is half of our old campus, and the other half is to the right of and slightly behind the protestors. Our old campus remains closed today, for obvious reasons.
