life of Braque

Trying to get a better handle on cubism right now by reading a life of Braque. The problem with trying to get it through Picasso is that in a sense he’s much larger than cubism. His personality overshadows everything, and it tends to look like a mere phase in a more titanic biography. Since Braque is more soft-spoken and built to a less heroic scale, my hope is that more can be learned about the problem by passing through him rather than through Picasso.
