an unexpected battle today in Tahrir

I don’t think anyone expected today to be a big day in central Cairo, but the initial tear-gassing of the Tahrir sit-in has led to a very eventful day.

Last I saw, the protestors had not only taken control of Tahrir, but were even trying to assault the Interior Ministry headquarters just down the street.

This took on a life of its own. As of 3:30-4:00 it looked like a complete non-event that had already blown over, but it just kept drawing more participants into the center.
