temporary football shutdown

November 11, 2011

Lester Munson, who’s one of the smartest sportswriters in the business (he’s also a lawyer) argues HERE that Penn State needs to shut down their football team for a minimum of two years. He reminds us (I’d completely forgotten this) that Tulane did the same with its basketball team in the 1980’s after a point-shaving scandal. (The University of San Francisco also dropped basketball for awhile after a string of scandals.)

They might need to do so, if the additional rumors we’re now hearing about the case gain any additional traction.
