the Penn State story’s getting a bit worse

Eric Weislogel (who was a Penn State football season ticket holder when we were there, I believe) sent me some other links on the Penn State story. It’s looking worse for Paterno than I thought, since Sandusky retained an office on campus, presumably a friendship with Paterno himself, and given the apparently “hysterical” tone of the grad assistant who reported the incident to him, there’s the lingering question of why he would handle this internally rather than contact the police.

Now the whole university administration seems imperiled, and it’s possibly the ugliest DI sports scandal in U.S. history. It’s much worse than SMU having sorority girls sleep with recruits years ago, because at least those were all adults. Here we may actually have university officials helping cover up systematic child rape on campus by a highly placed personality.

We’ll have to wait and see who knew what and when, but it gets worse every time I read about it.
