“shootout”?
October 21, 2011
I’m not sure why the new Libyan government is trying to claim that Qaddafi was killed in a “shootout.” If you’ve seen the footage (which I wouldn’t recommend watching) you can see that Qaddafi has been captured, is being paraded around alive on the front of a truck, and is obviously terrified over what he knows to be his coming fate. Quite obviously he was executed by the rebels. The film makes that pretty obvious (as does the location of the bullet wound in the photos of the corpse), so I’m not sure why this game is being played of claiming otherwise.
Although dictators bring this on themselves in many ways, I’d much rather have seen a trial than the cruelty to a prisoner that we saw yesterday.
