The low brown building at left on the far side of the Nile appears to be the Marriott Hotel, which is in Zamalek just a few blocks from me. (I’m off to the right of it and about three blocks away from the Nile.)

The protests are centered in front of State TV headquarters, which since February has been more heavily fortified than any building I’ve seen.
