Anwar al-Awlaki killed in Yemen

Recently I was discussing with a journalist friend the likelihood that al-Qaeda is pretty much finished. He agreed, and said that Leon Panetta has told the U.S. Congress that the group might not even exist by the end of 2011.

I would presume that the staggering pace of killings of al-Qaeda leadership has something to do with data recovered from the bin Laden compound.

al-Awlaki was born in a place I’ve been: Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA.
