Freud/Lacan in OOO

September 29, 2011

First I noticed that Nathan Gale had made THIS POST comparing my approach to objects to Freud and Levi’s approach to Lacan.

Then I noticed that Levi had already noticed it himself, HERE.

I’m reading with 6:45 AM eyes, which sometimes miss things, but there’s some innate plausibility to it. Levi, of course, is a former Lacanian analyst, while I’ve always preferred Freud to Lacan.

Freud’s one of those people where you think you already know what he’s going to say– until you actually read him. The reality of Freud as a writer is so much more powerful than the stock of cultural clichés that have sprung up around his name.
