two other points about last night’s lecture
September 9, 2011
*When speaking at the American University of Paris in January 2009, I could see the very top of the Eiffel Tower from where I was speaking. Last night, I could see the very top of the Empire State Building from where I was speaking.
*Watercolorist Prudence Whittlesey said she was going to paint me while I was speaking, and of course I said OK. Naturally, I expected some sort of labored final product, and was stunned to find afterward that she had done some *10 or 12* watercolors of me during the talk. That was fast! All were good likenesses, all were surrounded with phrases I had used during the talk, and all exuded very different atmospheres, ranging from the jovial to the sinister. It was a remarkable speed performance. Within a few days I think there may be one up on her website, and I’ll link to it then.
