New York alone equalled the next three combined, and that’s a typical New York performance.

Go, Baltimore! Chicago disappoints yet again, in 7th place (still waiting for @BrianLeiter to urge all his friends in Hyde Park to buy all the books). Albuquerque and Tucson couldn’t maintain their unlikely mid-summer run.

But Providence is now giving some love, sneaking onto the radar for the first time at #15. The only problem is, the people witnessed buying my books in Providence had slopping or buzzing undertones in their voices and a shambling gait, or were wearing almost freakishly elliptical tiaras whose monotonously aquatic designs were vaguely sinister. Dogs can’t stand these book buyers, and need to be brought inside whenever they pass.
