Nice Victorian charm in this hotel, though a very faded charm. The service, however, is the worst I’ve ever encountered. Not one thing has been done correctly or even politely. They threw away an item I needed, mess up breakfast every day beyond belief, and so forth. And I’m by no means a demanding guest, unlike the famous academic (who shall remain nameless) who insisted on a ticket on the Concorde, demanded a park-view room, then complained about the desk size in the room so that the hotel manager had to lend his own desk to the guest.

The sea is nice, however, though the skies remain gloomy. But the gloom enhances the charm of the sea.
