Levi’s book coming soon
August 17, 2011
Levi Bryant (with my participation as New Metaphysics series editor at Open Humanities Press) is currently doing corrections on the very final proofs (what used to be called “the galleys”) of The Democracy of Objects. This is now one of the philosophy books that I have read the most times, and it still reads very freshly each time.
The whole book is great. The Luhmann section has often been my favorite part, and is sure to be among the most popular portions of the work. But on this most recent reading, I was perhaps even more impressed by Levi’s own refutation of “correlationism,” which uses very original argumentation.
I can’t give an exact publication date yet, since this is the first book we’ve done in the series and I have no idea how long the remaining production phases will take. But the release date is certainly near.
The book will be posted on Amazon relatively soon, and can already be found on the OHP website, HERE.
OHP is an open access publisher. If you prefer not to purchase a printed version, and simply wish to download the PDF for electronic reading, you may do so free of charge.
What I’ve found in my own experience is that open access seems to increase the sales. My fastest-selling book has been Prince of Networks, which also happens to be my only book so far available as open access. It could just be that the book is on Latour, a very popular figure about whom a mere handful of philosophy books have been written so far (whereas Tool-Being obviously competes with thousands of books about Heidegger). Or, it could be that reading the PDF stimulates readers to purchase a hard copy of the book.
In any case, you’ll have the open access option with The Democracy of Objects.
