It’s the time of year when new faculty start arriving. Whenever I’m around at this time of year (like now), I eagerly volunteer to show them around.

Even in a city as magical as this one, year after year of routine can make you forget exactly how amazing Cairo is. The best way to remind yourself of that is to show it to a first-timer at least once per year. It brings back all the electricity of one’s own early weeks in Egypt.
