the Charlie Parker recording

Since I just mentioned Charlie Parker playing “Lover Man” while strung out on heroin (the YouTube poster claims it was drunk on whiskey, but I read somewhere it was heroin), here is the recording.

Charlie Parker on heroin is still better than 90% of saxophonists in top, clean form, but all you need to know is that Bird was furious that this was ever released by the recording company. He’s a shadow of himself here.
