on the awesomeness of Cairo

The USA trip was so good this summer that I was really not especially looking forward to getting back here this time. It sounded like heat + drudgery.

But there’s something about this city, especially when you get to take the taxi from the airport at night. It’s one of the most exciting cities on earth.

Warm exchange of greetings with my doorman. We really got a winner this time, after the firing and trial (with ultimate dismissal of burglary charges for lack of evidence) of his predecessor. A good doorman makes Cairo life so much better than when you have a bad one.
