and another by Greenberg on Klee

This is really good stuff:
“Klee himself reminds one of a personage in one of those stories by E.T.A. Hoffmann about the small-town Germany of the eighteenth century: comfortable, musical, modest and fantastic. He welcomes influences and hints from places far off in space and time, but they are thoroughly worked over and assimilated to his domestic décor.”
Nice.
