failed to find this house

This is the house Lovecraft lived in from ages 14-34. I failed to find it today. There doesn’t seem to be any house with precisely that number on Angell Street. Nor is there any house that looks exactly like this, so the color must have been changed, and I’ll have to look more closely at the structures of the buildings down there. More likely I’ll just consult Joshi again. He’s generally very helpful on geography.

Speaking of Joshi… This would be the house where Lovecraft wandered aimlessly in his pajamas for several years in early adulthood not doing much of anything. If memory serves, Joshi’s theory is that one of the main problems was Lovecraft’s inability to pursue an astronomy career, due to insufficient mathematical skills.

It’s interesting to imagine Lovecraft’s life if he’d actually ben admitted to Brown. Things would have been very different.
