the CIA’s ruse to learn if bin Laden was in the compound

It’s a fascinating story: the CIA apparently set up a fake vaccination program in Abbottabad, Pakistan in an effort to get DNA samples from people inside what turned out to be bin Laden’s compound.

Dr. Afridi, who succeeded in entering the compound but not in getting any bin Laden family DNA, has now been arrested as an American collaborator.

Two questions are interesting here:

(1) How was it discovered that Dr. Afridi was working with the CIA?

(2) Was Dr. Afridi told by the CIA why he was entering that specific compound?

#2 would seem extremely risky to the operation. I’d like to hear more about this whole thing, and I suppose in 10 or 20 years there will be bulky books about the bin Laden raid, and a number of surprises in connection with it.
