flashback: live-blogging the composition of the book

July 6, 2011

As a reminder, the writing of The Quadruple Object was live-blogged in 2009 right HERE. Go back to the beginning to see it all; there are only 98 posts there, and the final few are from much later and have nothing to do with the book.

If memory serves, the entire writing and editing process prior to submission to the publisher took 86 hours and 34 minutes. I was surprised to see a finite number at all, especially a relatively small one like that.

Additional hours were needed to copyedit the manuscript, and French translator Olivier Dubouclez kindly offered to translate an additional 20 pages free of charge, and I took a bit more time to write those extra 20 pages as well (in spring 2010).
