setting dry leaves on fire

Here’s one person in my age group who has owned a magnifying glass:
“Count me among those who have owned a magnifying glass. It was a fold-out model: you would fold it out of the protective case, to which it was attached. I’m pretty sure it was a blue case, navy blue, made of leather. I can’t recall where it came from, a present probably. I was a stamp collector, and it’s possible that I was given the magnifying glass for that reason. But the only thing I remember ever using it for was to set dry leaves on fire.”
That’s definitely the danger of giving them to kids.
