just back from Morton’s keynote at Temple

Nice talk by Morton up at Temple tonight. If you haven’t seen one of his lectures before, he’s extremely funny. The jokes come in bursts. The tone of the lectures as a whole is serious, but then like gunshots the jokes ring out from nowhere and the crowd is won over.

Unfortunately, he was competing with an appearance by the always controversial Norman Finkelstein, also speaking at Temple tonight, which both cut into Tim’s crowd and also created a mildly oppressive security environment on the Temple campus.
