looks like the Onion, but it’s real

This combination of headline and photo (it’s Kristof) at the NY Times:

“The Japanese Could Teach Us a Thing or Two”

Sounds like a perfect Onion editorial. In fact, if I taught comedy writing, I’d ask my students to write the editorial to fit that combination.
