early Picasso show

Picasso from 1900-1907 at the Van Gogh Museum. Good show on the breakthrough years. The main obstacle to a show like this, however, is that you really need “Les demoiselles d’Avignon” to make it work, and New York didn’t give it to them of course. I doubt they even asked.

Great Rose Period stuff in the show, though not the really famous stuff. Their loan clout was a bit less than I might have expected. Still a pleasure to see this show, and in fact I plan to return in the morning.
