state security headquarters

I ride past it all the time, and it’s a sinister-looking building in a somewhat desolate portion of Nasr City. But I never knew the following, bone-chilling fact:
“Many were overwhelmed by the size of the building, which descends more than six floors underground.”
One of the most disturbing reports to have emerged during the Egyptian revolution was the following. Someone was rendered to Egypt for interrogation, and was being tortured with a blindfold on for several days, presumably in this very building.
At one point, the interrogator struck him so hard in the head that his blindfold came off, and he was able to see who the interrogator was: Omar Suleiman in person!
I try to imagine Joe Biden in Guantanamo, slapping people around, and can’t really picture it.
