university reforms in Egypt

February 27, 2011

Cairo University (that’s the huge state university in Giza) ANNOUNCES REFORMS, such as the removal of Interior Ministry police from campus, the offering of contracts to temps, and wage increases.

Vast economic inequalities in Egypt have to be addressed quickly to save the revolution, and I think the poor have emboldened enough to speak out. However, the Army is still chilly towards labor movements and that is likely to remain the case.
