citizens’ army forming in Benghazi

This is the way it has to be, I’m afraid. The calls for an “end to the violence” are way too late, and I doubt anyone means them literally anyway, except for maybe a handful of diehard pacifists:

“In the eastern city of Benghazi, residents have been queuing to be issued with guns looted from the army and police in order to join what they are calling the battle for Tripoli.”
