I seem to have eaten something unfavorable, so you won’t be hearing from me much today. But keep an eye on Libya, where yesterday was one of the most violent days in the region in the past month. Some army units have openly defected to the protestors, who have been pushed towards not-quite-peaceful (hard to blame them) and have even used grenades in a few cases.

In fact I might use grenades myself, if trucks were driving past with soldiers firing randomly into the crowds with rifles, and helicopters were firing at my head, as was apparently done by the Colonel’s forces yesterday. If video were able to get out of Libya easily right now, we’d probably see things that make the Bahrain video look like Captain Kangaroo. (Some video is being electronically smuggled out and you can find it if you look, but the quality is often low and some of the key reported scenes seem to be unavailable.)
