first new political party approved

The Wasat (Center) Party becomes the FIRST NEW PARTY APPROVED IN EGYPT since the end of the revolution.

They’ve been trying for 15 years, and I love the reason they were previously refused a license:

“The party’s founders first applied for the licence that would allow them to operate legally in 1996. They were denied the licence by the Shura Council’s Political Parties Affairs Committee because ‘they didnt offer anything new.'”
