Hillman

February 16, 2011

After I happened to make a couple of posts yesterday about Jung (I had one of his books with me for chance reasons), THIS POST appeared about possible resonances between my position and Hillman’s.

There’s some plausibility to this, making allowance for the obvious differences between post-Jungian archetypal theory and post-Heideggerian ontology. I do remember being impressed by Hillman’s notion of a self deeper than all causal perturbations by neurotic parents, unfortunate chance incidents, and so forth. There’s a connection on that point at least, and maybe in other places that those truly well-versed in Hillman (unlike me) would be able to explain.
