remarks heard today
February 14, 2011
From a secretary I chatted with on campus:
“We never realized how fragile the regime was.”
From another secretary, when I asked if her family was all fine:
“We are all fine, and all celebrating.”
It’s really a remarkable change here. People are saying whatever they feel like saying, and protesting whenever and wherever they feel like protesting. It’s a kind of intoxication with the new access to a normal political sphere.
