HERE. And he cited me this time.
The article contains this hilarious quote from an Egyptian:
“Mubarak got his 70 billion dollars, and maybe that’s the price we pay for being too lazy to get him out of power for 30 years. But whoever is president next, if he takes even one pound, we will eat him.”
This reminds me that Egyptians, on the whole, are extremely quotable. Each Egyptian has his or her own very unique take on political issues, and they often find vivid ways to express it.
You know those bland “Person on the Street” features in the USA Today. When random Americans are questioned about the issues of the day, their responses can often sound canned. But when the Cairo Times still existed and had a similar feature, the random Egyptians would give the most fascinating and unpredictable answers.
My favorite was when they were asking random people in the Cairo Metro how to fix the Egyptian economy, and one man responded: “There is no way to fix it. The economy is doomed. God help us all.”
