back on line

There is only one electrical plug on the plane, and luckily it happens to be in the very back where I am sitting.
It’s an American plug and my computer has a European cord, but I happened to have stashed an adaptor in my bag that I was able to find. Doubly lucky.
Turns out there were no fewer than *19* people (dual U.S.-Egypt citizens) denied boarding to this plane by the Egyptian government. Their papers weren’t in order. Sometimes you need documents proving you’ve done your military service in order to leave, and perhaps that’s all it is. Or maybe someone was trying to flee something. In any case, we’re still looking at another 1.5 hours of this, and the main problem is that the dozens of kids on the plane aren’t handling the delays any better than you would expect. Much inarticulate screaming and even more crying.
