communications

January 31, 2011

Because of the internet shutdown I have no direct contact at the moment with any faculty or administrators in Cairo. Landlines do work in Egypt now, but since none of us ever use landlines, I don’t carry the list of phone numbers with me. It hasn’t been updated for a couple of years anyway (precisely because we never need it).

So, I’m limited to the following channels of communciation:

*the AUC website is up and running, but only the most basic information is put there

*I keep in touch with quite a number of former students, and many of them are outside Egypt continuing their studies and regularly phoning friends in Cairo who know what’s going on

*AUC also has a pretty large New York office, and they’ve given useful information about academic calendar issues
