Palolem

The problem with photos, of course, is what they leave out: in this case, the wind and the sound of the waves in Palolem are both an important part of the experience. Also, I would prefer the view out toward the sea than the view down the beach. But this image gives some idea of the sort of thing it is.

As I mentioned earlier, it’s also one of the hardest beaches to reach in Goa, which holds the crowds somewhat in check. It involves a bus ride through fairly rural areas.

The day I was there, the weather was more dark and sinister (it was during the monsoon) which I thought made it even more impressive.
