weird wording

December 12, 2010

The headline for an NY Times obituary:

John E. du Pont, Heir Who Killed an Olympian, Dies at 72

After reading the obituary I clearly remembered the incident, which I had completely forgotten about in the meantime.

But what strikes me now is that the phrase “heir who killed an Olympian” not only was probably never uttered before, but was extremely unlikely ever to be uttered.
