Meillassoux bibliography in French
December 3, 2010
Here’s a French blogger’s ATTEMPT AT A MEILLASSOUX BIBLIOGRAPHY.
I’ve only had a quick glance at it, as I await the Bryant/Faber session in Claremont.
However, I noticed one thing I should comment on. The blogger says that After Finitude is an extract from L’Inexistence divine. I used to think so too, because that’s what Badiou says in his foreword to AF.
However, it turns out not to be the case. Several major ideas are shared by both books, of course, because both are written by the same author. But none of the material is the same, and the word “correlationism” does not even appear in L’Inexistence divine! And keep in mind, I was reading the 2003 version, not the 1997 doctoral thesis version.
I’ve never asked Meillassoux when he coined the term “correlationism”, but based on textual evidence it may well have been as late as 2004 or 2005.
