John Coltrane, “Summertime”

Ah, what the heck. You should hear it if you never have. Everyone has covered “Summertime”, but I don’t think anyone has ever done it as powerfully as Coltrane. It’s a 7:33 tour de force. [NOTE: My mistake, it’s even longer than I remembered. This is just the first part.] I played this song almost daily throughout undergraduate years.
